Andor Season 2 is about to hit Disney+, taking us back to the early days of the Rebellion, where hope seemed slight and every move against the Galactic Empire was full of deadly risk. Andor is, of course, a prequel series tracing the events that led Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) on that fateful mission to steal the Death Star plans in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s also an incredibly taut ensemble drama that details the infinite ways in which the Empire brought evil to the universe and how a disparate group of rebels managed to band together to fight the good fight.

Andor Season 1 is set five years before the original Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The first season explained how the aforementioned Cassian Andor was coaxed out of a life of complacency to become a Rebel spy, devoted to the cause. The first season of Andor also introduced us to a Rebel spymaster operating out of a high end antiques shop named Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), his mysterious assistant Kleya (Elizabeth Dulau), and his well-connected friends, like Senator Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly). Andor Season 1 also took us inside the Empire’s bureaucratic machine, personified by ambitious ISB agent Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) and ruined middle manager Syril Karn (Kyle Soller).

Andor Season 2 continues this epic story with twelve episodes divvied up into four three-act stories.

Andor Season 1 Recap:

Can’t remember what happened in Andor Season 1? That’s okay! It was literally a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Andor Season 1 ends with the people of Ferrix using the funeral of Cassian’s mother Maarva (Fiona Shaw) to spark an uprising against Imperial control. A battle breaks out, scattering Cassian and his surviving friends. Cassian eventually goes to Luthen Rael, asking him to kill him or take him in.

Obviously, way more than just that happened. If you want to relive every nitty gritty detail of the Andor Season 1 finale, check out our breakdown.

Will There Be An Andor Season 3?

Nope! Although series creator Tony Gilroy and Andor star/EP Diego Luna originally envisioned five seasons of Andor, they shifted course when they realized how long one season of the show takes to make.

“It is the final season because it takes two years and a half to make one season,” Luna explained during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “We promised five at the beginning, but then we were doing the first… The amazing Tony Gilroy came to Scotland and we were shooting and we sat down and said, ‘Like this is going to be impossible. I mean, how can we do five seasons? It’s more than a decade. I cannot fire a blaster for another ten years.'”

However, Andor Season 2 isn’t the end of Cassian Andor’s story. Star Wars fans will be able to go straight from the Andor Season 2 finale into the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which in turn, leads directly into the opening of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

So no Andor Season 3, but there are the movies.
